General Import Requirements for Pets

Microchip

A microchip is mandatory for importing pets into Uzbekistan. It must be implanted before the rabies vaccination and comply with ISO 11784/11785 standards.

Rabies Vaccination

  • The vaccination must be administered at least 21 days before travel.
  • If this is the first rabies vaccination, it must be given after the microchip implantation.
  • The vaccination must remain valid at the time of entry.

International Veterinary Certificate

  • Must be issued in Serbia by an authorized veterinarian.
  • Should include:
    • Microchip details (number, implantation date).
    • Rabies vaccination details (date, batch number, validity).
    • A statement confirming that the pet is clinically healthy and free of infectious diseases.

➕ Recommended Vaccinations and Parasite Treatment – Click to View

Although not mandatory for entry into Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Agriculture strongly recommends additional vaccinations and parasite treatment to ensure the pet’s health and to avoid complications at the border.

Recommended vaccinations:

  • Dogs: Distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, leptospirosis.

  • Cats: Panleukopenia, calicivirus, feline rhinotracheitis.

Parasite treatment:

  • Recommended 5–10 days before departure.

  • Details of the treatment should be included in the veterinary certificate if performed.

This preparation helps ensure your pet’s comfort and minimizes the risk of border delays.

Requirements for Documents Upon Entry to Uzbekistan

  • The international veterinary certificate issued in Serbia must be exchanged for an Uzbek veterinary certificate at the veterinary control point upon arrival.
  • An additional veterinary examination may be required before issuing the Uzbek certificate.

Important Notes

  • A rabies antibody titer test is not required for entry into Uzbekistan.
  • All documents, including the international veterinary certificate, must be correctly prepared, even if checks on passenger flights are rare. Ensuring proper documentation can help avoid potential issues or delays in case of inspection.
  • To obtain an Uzbek veterinary certificate, the international certificate must be exchanged at the veterinary control point upon entry into the country.
