Pet Movement Legislation
Country of Departure
Pet Transport from the UK to Serbia – Rules and Documents
Legal Basis
The rules for importing pets into Serbia are regulated by the following legal acts:
- Regulation (EU) No 576/2013 of the European Parliament and Council on the non-commercial movement of pets, which serves as the basis for EU member states and candidate countries, including Serbia.
- Veterinary Law of the Republic of Serbia and associated bylaws governing animal health and movement.
Required Documents for Import
Veterinary Certificate for Non-Commercial Pet Movement 📄 (PDF)
The certificate must comply with the Serbian model, adapted from the format established by Regulation (EU) No 577/2013. It must include:
- Rabies vaccination details (timing and type of vaccine).
- Parasite treatment (if required).
- Confirmation of the animal’s health at the time of departure.
Microchip
Mandatory for pet identification. The microchip must comply with ISO 11784/11785 standards.
Rabies Vaccination
The vaccination must be administered at least 21 days before entry if it is the first vaccination. It is valid only if the animal was vaccinated at 12 weeks of age or older.
Rabies Antibody Titer Test
Not required for imports from the UK, as it is classified as a low-risk rabies country under international standards (OIE).
Entry Conditions
Maximum Allowed Pets
Non-commercial movement permits up to five pets per individual. More than five animals require compliance with commercial movement regulations.
Minimum Age
Pets must be at least 4 months old at the time of entry (considering the 21-day waiting period after rabies vaccination).
