➕ Common mistakes when preparing pet travel documents from the United Kingdom to the UAE (UK → UAE Pet Travel)

When preparing documents for pet travel from the United Kingdom to the United Arab Emirates, many owners make small but critical mistakes in vaccination dates, veterinary documents, or travel preparation. Even minor errors can cause delays during airline check-in or veterinary inspection when entering the UAE.

The most common mistakes when preparing pet travel documents UK → UAE include:

  • Microchip implanted after the rabies vaccination.
For pet import to the UAE, the microchip must be implanted before the rabies vaccination.
  • Rabies vaccination done too close to the travel date.
The rabies vaccination must be administered at least 21 days before travel.
  • The UAE import permit has not been obtained.
Pets entering the UAE require an official MOCCAE Import Permit issued by the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.
  • The veterinary health certificate is incomplete or incorrectly issued.
The certificate must be issued by an official veterinarian and must clearly state the microchip number and vaccination details.
  • Parasite treatments are missing or not recorded.
Pets travelling to the UAE must receive treatment against internal and external parasites, and this treatment must be documented in the veterinary certificate.
  • The wrong transport method is selected.
For most flights to the UAE, pets travel as manifest cargo under IATA Live Animals Regulations, not as cabin pets.
  • Information does not match across veterinary documents.
The microchip number, vaccination dates, pet name, and owner information must match exactly in all documents.

These issues are frequently identified when reviewing pet travel documents for the UK → UAE route and are a common cause of delays when preparing pets for international travel to the United Arab Emirates.
