Entry Requirements for Pets Arriving in Turkey
Mandatory Microchip
All pets traveling from Switzerland to Turkey must be microchipped before receiving their rabies vaccination. The microchip must comply with ISO 11784/11785 standards and remain clearly readable upon arrival.
Rabies Vaccination
- All cats and dogs must be vaccinated against rabies at least 21 days prior to entry.
- The vaccine must be administered after microchip implantation and be valid on the day of travel.
Rabies Titer Test
- Mandatory for all pets entering Turkey, regardless of their country of origin.
- Blood must be drawn at least 30 days after rabies vaccination.
- Result must show ≥ 0.5 IU/ml of antibodies and come from an EU-approved lab.
- A 3-month waiting period is required from the date of blood draw before entering Turkey.
Veterinary Health Certificate
- Must be issued by an authorized veterinarian in Switzerland no earlier than 10 days before travel.
- Must include:
- Microchip data (number and implantation date).
- Rabies vaccination details (date, batch number, validity).
- Rabies titer test results (date, value, laboratory).
- Confirmation that the pet is clinically healthy and fit to travel.
- The certificate must be in Turkish or accompanied by a certified Turkish translation.
Parasite Treatment Requirements
- Pets must be treated for both internal and external parasites within 1–5 days (24–120 hours) before entering Turkey.
- The treatment must be recorded in the veterinary certificate, including the date and name of the product.

Up to two pets per traveler are permitted for non-commercial import.
Air Travel Recommendations
- Pets must be transported in an IATA-approved carrier when flying to Turkey.
- Always confirm airline-specific rules prior to booking, as requirements may vary.

- Ensure that all documents are fully completed, correct, and accompanied by a Turkish translation if needed.
