➕ Common mistakes when preparing pet travel documents from Switzerland to Turkey
During international transport of cats and dogs, most problems at the airport or border occur not because documents are missing, but because of small mistakes in how they were prepared.
For the route Switzerland → Turkey, the following issues are among the most common:
- The microchip was implanted after the rabies vaccination, which makes the vaccination invalid for international travel.
- The rabies antibody titer test was performed too early after vaccination or the laboratory result is not accepted by veterinary authorities.
- The required 3-month waiting period after the rabies blood test was not respected before travel.
- The veterinary health certificate was issued too early before departure, which may cause it to expire before the date of entry.
- The microchip number or other identification details are inconsistent across different documents (passport, test results, health certificate).
- Parasite treatment was not carried out within the required time frame before entry or was not recorded in the veterinary certificate.
Even a small inconsistency in veterinary documents may result in delays at the airport, additional veterinary checks, or the need to urgently reissue documents before departure.
